Connie L. Girard

Connie L. Girard, 79, of Sioux City, IA passed away Friday, June 4, 2021 surrounded by her family at her home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.  Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., family present 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 8, 2021, also at the chapel.  Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Connie was born on September 6, 1941 in Onawa, IA.  She graduated from Central High School in 1960 and was united in marriage to Thomas Girard on June 25, 1960 in Vermillion, SD.  In her younger years, Connie worked as a beautician and had her own shop.  Later, she worked in the H.R. Department at Countryside Retirement Home.  She also drove a school bus for a year and volunteered at Morningside Christian/ Siouxland Christian School. 

Connie loved to spend time with friends and family.  She was skilled at entertaining; she created beautiful, magazine-worthy spreads for holidays and weddings. She rarely missed a Saturday of having coffee with her beloved friends of over 50 years.  She also enjoyed exercising, playing golf, and spending endless hours shopping at Von Maur in Omaha, NE.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband Tom Girard, Sioux City; children: Tim (Peggy) Girard, Sioux City, IA, Ann (David) Wooster, Harlan, IA; grandchildren: Aaron (Hope Ellinger) Girard, Blake (Hilary McHugh) Girard, Justin (Haley) Wooster , Brandi Wooster, Makala (David) Mastbergen, Mollie (Jackson) Young, Jordan (Hollie) Schechinger; and 6 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Wilburt Peterson; brothers: Allan, Duane and Gordon Gross.
