David M. Hubbard

David M. Hubbard, 55, of Laurens, IA, passed away September 2, 2021 at a Des Moines hospital.  A visitation will be held Sunday, September 12 from 1-4:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Please come dressed in your favorite gaming or fandom t-shirt to honor David's memory. David was born on November 26, 1965 in Stockton, CA to Paul and Carol Ann (Milligan) Hubbard.  He graduated from Rio Linda High School.  He was united in marriage to Susan Hess on October 12, 1986 in Sacramento.  He moved to Iowa with his family in 2000. He was a voracious reader and especially loved fantasy and science-fiction literature. He often frequented the local library. He was also an avid gamer. He started playing tabletop roleplaying games upon their outset and continued for many decades. He loved board games and playing with his friends and family. In 2015 he was diagnosed with Ataxia, a rare neurological disorder. David was a champion for the cause; raising awareness for The National Ataxia Foundation.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Susan Hubbard, Laurens, IA; daughter, Katy Themm, Sioux City, IA; Becca Hubbard, Cedar Falls, IA; and brothers Matthew Hubbard, Charlotte, NC; and Steven O'Rourke, Rio Linda, CA and four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
