May 4, 1950 — July 27, 2021

John Robert Paulsen Jr., 71, passed away on July 27, 2021, at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke’s in Sioux City, Iowa.

John was Born May 4th, 1950, in Sioux City to John (Jack) Robert Paulsen and Gladys (Stafford) Paulsen. He attended Sioux City schools, graduating from Central High School in 1968. John served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After returning to Sioux City, John worked for Terra Chemical. Later he was employed by Rooster’s Harley-Davidson until his retirement on June 27, 2014.

Growing up John enjoyed his family vacations in Park Rapids, MN., because he enjoyed them so much as a child he began vacationing on the same lake with his sister and her family in recent years. John’s greatest joy and passion in life was riding his choppers with his El Forastero brothers. His rides took him all over the country where he lived life to the fullest and on his terms. He could talk to anyone and was always the life of the party.

John is survived by his sister, Chris (John) Zink; Nephew, Chad Zink, Niece, Kerri (Mike) Severson and their daughters, Bailey and Macie; and Niece, Callie (Gabe) Devitt and their children, Norah and Jack; very special friend, Julie Briggs-Hobbs; his El Forastero and Galloping Goose brothers, and his beloved Yorkies.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
